We are Lindon, Megan, Levi, and Shields Fowler. Lindon hails from
Butler, Pa., about 90 minutes north of Pittsburgh. He is the youngest of three
children. Growing up, Lindon was the mischievous towhead who hid in the closet
to startle his grandmother, sprinted headlong toward bodies of water long
before he could swim, let his dad hoist him onto the roof to nail down the
shingles that were slightly out of reach, and played hockey in the middle of
the street with the neighborhood kids.
During his high school years Lindon
spent lots of time working on cars. His favorite classes were those with no
desks and chalkboards, namely the machine technology and carpentry classes he
took in the Butler Area Vocational Technical School. After graduating from
Butler High School Lindon spent two years as an apprentice tool and die maker
at Penn United Technologies. During this time God reclaimed Lindon’s heart and
began to move him toward full-time ministry. He enrolled in college and
received a degree from Geneva College in Beaver Falls, Pa.
Lindon still enjoys a good
practical joke, but has since tamed his mischievous streak. He enjoys playing
most sports and roots for the Pittsburgh Steelers and Penguins, but he cheers
for the St. Louis Cardinals over the Pittsburgh Pirates. He is the resident
handyman whose craftsmanship is displayed throughout our house. He loves
working on cars, particularly his 1979 Jeep that he rebuilds in his spare
time. One of Lindon’s greatest
achievements to date is graduating with his Master of Divinity from Covenant Theological Seminary in St. Louis. While he looks for a call, Lindon works as
maintenance assistance at the Whitehall Club in St. Louis.
Megan’s childhood was quite
different than Lindon’s. She was born in Jackson, Miss., while her father was
in seminary, and spent most of her childhood in the Deep South, namely Florida.
She moved to Pennsylvania before starting high school and gives Pennsylvania
credit for producing her fabulous husband. After graduating from Butler High
School, Megan attended Grove City College in Grove City, Pa. She spent five
years working in the legal field and as a freelance journalist. These days she
stays home to care for Levi full time while still contributing to byFaith Magazine. Megan loves to read,
write, cook, walk the dog, bike, and spend time near water.
Lindon and Megan were married on
December 31, 2004, and on November 6, 2009, they welcomed Levi Smith Fowler to
their family. Levi enjoys reading, exploring the world, playing in the pool,
and adding new words to his vocabulary. He has been a great source of joy for
his parents. In December 2011, he became a big brother with the addition of Shields to our family. Shields enjoys sleeping and being a newborn.
As a family we enjoy improving our
house through household remodeling projects on the inside and gardening on the
outside. We love to open our home to others, whether it is offering a bed to a
friend passing through town or having guests over for dinner. We feel that God
has blessed us tremendously, and it is a joy to share our lives with others.
